Beary Cute Cards

These cards were a challenge to create a card and then make a stepped up version.  On the left is my basic card, I used Pool Party and Fresh Freesia cardstock, a strip on white cardstock torn roughly and Coastal Cabana ink for the sentiment.  The stamp and punch bundle  is the Beary Cute set.  The punch cuts out the adorable bear on the left!

My more advanced card has delightful Florals DSP cut with the 1 3/4” circle punch and it was textured using the cross hatch embossing folder from the Basics 3D embossing folder.

Super fun cards!  And I love both versions!!

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

The song, “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” always makes me grin.  It’s funny.  So when I saw the Hippest Hippos stamps and dies in the Sale-a-Bration catalog, I was thrilled!

I designed this card for a Flowerbug Team swap. 1st layer is Gorgeous Grape: 2nd layer is Highland Heather

I sponged Gorgeous Grape and Pacific Point with blending brushes on Basic White cardstock and added a snowflake embellishment.

I used the Snowman dies to cut the snowflake border out of white glimmer and ripped a strip of white glimmer for my snowy ground.  I added some rhinestones to some snowflake centers because you can never have too many rhinestones!

My hippo was stamped on cardstock and colored with blends markers.  As a final touch, I printed the beginning of the song on my printer for my sentiment.

Song lyrics by John Rox below

I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasOnly a hippopotamus will doI don't want a doll, no dinky TinkertoyI want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy
I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasI don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?He won't have to use our dirty chimney flueJust bring him through the front doorThat's the easy thing to do
I can see me now on Christmas morningCreeping down the stairsOh, what joy and what surpriseWhen I open up my eyesTo see my hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasOnly a hippopotamus will doNo crocodiles, or rhinocerosesesI only like hippopotamusesesAnd hippopotamuses like me too
I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasA hippopotamus is all I wantMom says the hippo would eat me upBut then teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian
I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasThe kind I saw this summer at the zooThere's lots of room for him in our two car garageI'd feed him there and wash him thereAnd give him his massage
I can see me now on Christmas morningCreeping down the stairsOh, what joy and what surpriseWhen I open up my eyesTo see my hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasOnly a hippopotamus will doNo crocodiles, or rhinocerosesesI only like hippopotamusesAnd hippopotamuses like me too

Whale Done Strippy Card

A masculine challenge inspired this fun card!  I used varying widths and lengths of Orchid Oasis, Soft Succulent and Soft Sea Foam strips to create the background.

I stamped the whale in Orchid Oasis on Basic White cardstock and then punched it out with the coordinating punch.

The sentiment is stamped on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock in the Orchid Oasis ink.   The sea weed is Evening Evergreen and is from the Delicate Edges dies.

Wink of Stella added Sparkle to the whale and the water coming out of his spout.  My favorite embellishment, the rhinestones, added some under the sea sparkle!

Sassy Spring Sampler

I designed this spring sampler for a team meeting.  We all had a blast making them!  The colors were based around the "cloud" DSP in the Flowering Fields DSP.  The sampler fits in a 12 x 12" frame.

Colors Used: Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, So Saffron, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Black, White, Pool Party

12 x 12" Evening Evergreen background

10 x 10" Calypso Coral Layer

All squares/rectangles began with a base of Soft Succulent, the squares are 3 x 3" and the rectangles are 3 x 6 1/4"

Tulip Square: Soft Succulent 3 x 3" base; 2 3/4 x 2 3/4" 2nd layer; 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" basic white, sponged lightly with pool party; from the Flowering Tulips stamp set: tulip leaves/stems are 2nd generation Evening Evergreen; tulips were stamped on basic white scrap paper in petal pink and coral combos and fussy cut; one tulip is glued flat and the other 2 are popped up with dimensionals.

Deer Rectangle: Soft succulent 3 x 6 1/4" base; Evening Evergreen forest and deer cut with the Grove dies, there is a piece of Petal Pink cloud paper behind the deer/forest. No specific measurements on the forest, but I'd guess 2 3/4" x 5 1/2".

Kite Delight Rectangle:  3 x 6 1/4" Soft Succulent; 2 3/4 x 6" Petal Pink; 2 1/2 x 5 3/4" cloud paper.  Kite tails were stamped directly on the DSP and colored with blends markers; Kites were stamped on Basic White, colored with blends and fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals.

Ladybug Square: 3 x 3" Soft Succulent; 2 3/4 x 2 3/4" Petal Pink embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder;  leaves are soft succulent and punched with the Ladybug Punch (wings), Basic White Medium Daisy Punch and 1/2" circle punch (retired) made the flower; Black ladybug made with the punch; calypso coral wings and black dots punched out with a regular hand held hole punch.

Floral Trio Square: 3 x 3" Soft Succulent, 2 3/4 x 2 3/4" Petal Pink, 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" Soft Succulent square; Sentimental Swirls stamped in Evening Evergreen; Flowers made from Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Petal Pink using the Flowers & Leaves Punch.  Centers are Opal Rounds colored with blends markers.

Daffodil Square: 3 x 3" Soft Succulent; 2 3/4 x 2 3/4" Evening Evergreen; 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" Petal Pink embossed with the Brick 3D embossing folder and sponged with Calypso Coral; Daffodils were stamped in Black Memento and colored with blends.  Jewels in flower centers.

Strawberry Square: 3 x 3" Soft Succulent; 2 3/4 x 2 3/4" Calypso Coral; 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" Basic White; Sweet Strawberry stamp set; stamp leaves/blooms in Evening Evergreen; color flower centers So Saffron; on Basic White, stamp the strawberries inside with Calypso Coral; Use the outline stamp and Poppy Parade to stamp the outside; punch with the Strawberry punch; use Soft Succulent to punch strawberry tops and glue them on the berries.  The strawberries are popped up with dimensionals.

There are random jewels on the squares/rectangles, these came from the Waves of Inspiration jewels; Champagne Rhinestones, Opals and Iridescent Jewels.

Here's a different color background!

You’re Awesome

Welcome to the International blog hop!  This month’s card is a split panel card using the For the Record stamp!

I love the diagonal striped stamp in the set and used it for my background.  I stamped it in Pacific Point, Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous  Grape, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Highland Heather,

The record was stamped in Versamark on black and heat embossed with black embossing powder and a heat tool.

Fresh Freesia heart was cut with a stitched die from the Give it a Whirl dies.  Sentiments stamped in Bermuda Bay and the ends punched with Lovely Labels punch and mounted on a strip of Bermuda Bay.  Jewels from the Waves of Inspiration suite.

Floating Sea Life

Welcome to the International Training Blog Hop sponsored by Bruno & Kylie Bertucci! Our theme is customer Thank You cards and my cards feature the Sea Life Dies from the Annual Catalog.  These dies are 20% off for the month of March.

I've recently become aware of the Floating Technique.  This involves putting paper onto window sheet and popping that up with dimensionals to make it look like it's floating over the cardstock.

This card uses some of my favorite colors - the blues/aqua and turquoises of the Stampin' Up!© family.  Card base is Night of Navy 8 1/2 x 11"; Bermuda Bay Layer is 5 1/4 x 4"; Pool Party layer is 5 x 3 3/4" and textured with the 3D bark embossing folder.

Strips on the window sheets were varying sizes in Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, Pool Party,  Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay.  Circle was cut with the largest Layering Circle Die.

Inside was stamped in the same colors with a stamp from the For the Record stamp set.

Here's a version with the Sea Horses too.  Gems added were the new gems that coordinate with Waves of the Ocean suite.

Floating in Space

Look at this fun card featuring the Floating technique!  To create a floating image, you add designs to window sheet, pop it up with dimensionals and adhere to your card.

My floating planet was created with leftover strips from the gorgeous New Horizons DSP glued to window sheet and cut with one of the layering circles dies.

My background was done with blending brushes and Gorgeous Grape and Pacific Point inks on Basic white. Stars were cut from Pale Papaya with the Give it. whirl dies.  Sentiment was also stamped on basic white and cut with die from Give it a whirl in Gorgeous Grape.

The astronaut is from the Stellar Birthday set and was stamped in Memento and colored with blends!

Shimmery LadyBugs

Welcome to the Blog Hop!  Whether you are starting here or came for another site, you are in for a treat!

I used the Hello Ladybug set for my customer appreciation cards this month!

Have you seen the gorgeous Supple Shimmer specialty paper yet?  It is fabulous!  It comes in this pink and a really pale blue, like Pool Party.  The Hello Ladybug stamp set coordinates with a punch and that's how these fun ladybugs were made!  The black and white dotted paper is from the Pattern Party DSP.  I used a regular hole punch for her spots!

My stripes are 1/4" strips of the Pink Supple Shimmer paper and black cardstock. They are interwoven in the corner for a fun look!

My background is Granny Apple Green Cardstock and it was die cut with the Stitched Greenery Die.  We still have winter here in Idaho in the United States, but these bugs make me want spring to come!

Daffodil Delight

A Flowerbug's Color Challenge inspired me to thoughts of Easter and bright yellow daffodils!

LeeAnn Greff has the best ways to challenge and inspire us!

Standard card base in Balmy Blue.
So Saffron layer is 5 1/4 x 4”
The 5 1/4 x 1 1/2” basic gray strip was embossed
with the Honeybee embossing folder.
Basic White 4 3/4 x 3 1/5"

My sky was done using a blending brush and Pacific Point ink pad.
All stamping was done in Basic Gray.
Daffodils and leaves were colored with blends markers.  Each bunch of daffodils has one extra flower that was stamped separately, fussy cut and popped up on a dimensional.
Old Olive Blends were used on the leaves.

It’s cold here in Idaho today, I’m ready for Spring!

Honeybee Home

This was one of my Spring Catalog swap cards.  I used the Honeybee Home stamp set.

Card base is Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" and folded

My 2nd layer is 2 Granny Apple Green cardstock die cut with the Stitched Triangle Dies

3rd layer is 3 3/4 x 5" Basic White; I used a Blending Brush and Pacific Point to create the sky.

Flowers were stamped in Soft Suede and all die cut.  I originally tried to stamp some directly onto the sky, but it bugged me that the die cut ones had a border and the stamped ones didn't.  Eventually I decided to die cut all the flowers.  They were colored with Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green water colored pencils and I used an aquapainter.

Miss You was stamped in Memento ink.
