Adorable Penguin Treat Box

This fun treat box was inspired by and measurements were taken from Chicnscratch.com

Start with a 10 x 7" piece of Fresh Freesia Cardstock.  On the 10" side, score at 3 1/2", 4 3/4", 8 1/4" and 9 1/2".  On the 7" side, score at 1 1/4" and 5".

Cut the cardstock along the score lines until it looks like this:

Punch a 1" circle in the middle of the two top flaps. You can round the top corners if desired.

Add glue to the 1/2” strip and glue into a box shape.  Tuck in bottom side flaps and glue the bottom closed.

From August 3rd to September 30th, for every $50 you spend on Stampin' Up!© merchandise, you get a free selection from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  This adorable Penguin Playmates 12 x 12" DSP was my top choice!

To decorate your box, use the polka dot DSP and cut a piece 3 5/8 x 3 3/8".  The box side strips are 3 5/8 x 1 1/8" and were done with the fun striped pattern!

Using Misty Moonlight ink pad (153118), stamp the balloon string on the polka dot DSP, also stamp the sentiment "I like you a Lottle, It's like a little except a Lot" on a 3/4" scrap of Basic White.  Cut the right side into a banner shape and mount onto a 1" scrap of Misty Moonlight and cut the right side into a matching banner shape.  This banner was glued flat onto the box.

On basic white cardstock, stamp 3 balloons, one in each color, Fresh Freesia (155611), Just Jade (153115) and Misty Moonlight.  Punch out with the retired balloon punch, or fussy cut.  I glued 2 balloons flat and popped the other up with a dimensional.

The adorable little penguin was punched out of the DSP with the Penguin Punch and added with a dimensional.

My final touches were a Blue Adhesive Backed gem (153547) on the banner and Pool Party sheer ribbon (152462) to tie the box closed.

Below is an alternate Sweet Ice Cream version I did using the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set (158224) and Ice Cream Cone Builder (154241) punch.

 Nuts About You

This was one of my top stamp set picks from the July to December mini catalog.  I thought the squirrels were fun and mischievous looking.

My card base was cut from Evening Evergreen cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" and scored on the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4".  Fold the card in half and using a bone folder, smooth the fold down.

My 2nd layer is Soft Succulent and I added the stitched leaf pattern with the Stitched Greenery die.  I cut random circles out using the Layering Circles dies.  I added Evening Evergreen circles and made circular frames using the layering circle dies.  My tree bark is crumb cake cardstock that I dry embossed with the Bark 3D embossing folder.  I then sponged on some Soft Suede and Early Espresso ink.

I stamped the Nuts About you in Evening Evergreen.  The squirrel was stamped with Black Stazon.  I used 2 step stamping to add the Cinnamon Cider color to the squirrel and then colored his underside with Light So Saffron blends marker.  Ears were colored with light Flirty Flamingo Blends.  The acorn was colored with the Bronze and crumb cake markers.

Green rhinestones added the finish.  I love circle shapes on cards!

Friends Are Like Seashells

Friends are Like Seashells
You collect them along the way!

Another challenge inspired this card!  This one was to make a slimline card.  A friend suggested that we make a slimline card design for each set we own.  I really like that idea!

My card uses a Sahara Sand base cut at 7 x 8 1/2” and scored on the 7” side at 3 1/2 to form the card.  I used a 2” by 8” piece of Basic White paper and left the bottom edge white and then sponged in Pool Party.  Above that I sponged in Bermuda Bay.  I stamped my sentiment in Night of Navy.  The “sand” is a 1 1/2” x 8” strip of Sahara sand with the top edge torn roughly to look like sand.  I used the stamp with the dots to stamp early espresso texture in the sand.

After gluing my sand to my ocean piece, I measured that piece and added 1/4” to the measurements and cut a Bermuda Bay mat.

Seashells were stamped on the Pearlescent specialty paper and I used Navy, Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, and Early Espresso for the Sand Dollar.  I cut them out with the die and added texture using the matching embossing folder!  My shells stamped inside the card were the same colors!

A few rhinestones to add sparkle to the water finished this card!

Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy & Sahara Sand

I made this card for a team card swap using Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Sahara sand.  It uses the Sweet Strawberry stamp set.  The card base is Sahara Sand.  I stamped the flowers and leaf images in Sahara Sand on the cardstock.  The Night of Navy piece measures 4 x 2 1/2" and was embossed using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.

Strawberry outlines were stamped in Cherry Cobbler and then insides were stamped in Cherry Cobbler, then stamped off before stamping.  The stems are Night of Navy and is the "That was so sweet of you" sentiment.  The sentiment was stamped onto a circle and them cut on 2 sides.  I sponged the edges with Cherry Cobbler.

I added a rhinestone to one of the strawberries and then had fun wrapping linen thread around the night of navy piece.  I'm not sure what got into me, but I didn't feel like wrapping the thread in a "normal" way.  I ended up really liking the result.  I added a double bow with a glue dot!

 Mermaids and Pirates

Tonight I was finally able to play with the Mermaid & Pirates stamp set from the Stampin' Up!© annual catalog.  I don't know if it was growing up watching Disney's Peter Pan or reading Peter and the Starcatchers as an adult, but I love mermaids and pirates!

The background on this card was sponged using Daffodil Delight; Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay ink pads and the wonderful Plenty of Patterns Masks (#155553).  This pattern looks like mermaid tail scales to me and I couldn't wait to use it!  I colored the mermaid with Stampin' Blends.  Her rock is just a random shape I cut from Basic Gray paper.

Here are the card measurements:
Card base, Bermuda Bay 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", scored of the 8 1/2" side at
4 1/4"
Granny Apple Green mat, 4 x 5 1/4"
Basic White layer 3 3/4 x 5" and sponged using one of the Plenty of Patterns masks

It all makes me want to take a trip to the Beach!
